Heard it has been done...so I have a couple of hypotheticals....

How much more ooomph does a LC have over a 1/4 oz slug?
How tight does a LC git the bore? Would a choked gun banana peel?

Thinking about a suitable big-game load in a gun packed in the plane (strictly a survival situation, not a plinker)

I've only ever heard of it going the other way (.410 in a 45LC or 45-70). Shotgun barrels are really thin, I doubt they'd be up to the pressure of a 45LC, and with no rifling, where the shot would go is anybodies guess.

you have to remember that .410 is a BORE not a guage- in other words it's a 41 caliber smooth BORE rifle- NOT A SHOTGUN IN THE TRUE SENSE OF THE WORD- SO PUTTING A 45 COLT CARTRIDGE IN THERE IS GOING TO BE LIKE SHOOTING THE 8MM ON THE '06- IE IT IS LIKELY TO BLOW UP or at least swell the barrel- your 45 cal bullet mikes out typically 451-454 or better- in other words you'rE 42 THOUSANDS OVER THE BORE SIZE- THAT BIG OF A OVERBORE IS A STRICT NO NO- the reason it works the otherway is b/c is it's an underbore which places no STRESS on the barrel whatsoever

Just buy an H&R Survivor.
410 & 45 LC all in one nice weather resistant package.
Rifled barrel so the 45 shoots reasonably well, certainly not a tack driver, more like a "rock hitter". :D
