I have a CVA percussion rifle with an overall barrel length of 32". I have shot balls and 180 gr sabots in a range of 50-80grs of 3F and a #11 cap, if I was to step up to a 285gr conical bullet what range of powder load should I work with.
Depending on reliability may be used for deer next year.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link, would the 3F load i was using be a hotter charge than a 2F charge. Also GOEX refers to a fast and slow twist What is considered fast/slow?

In a .45 you want a 3F load. The 2F will give lower pressures and lower velocities for the same charge. Fast twist for a traditional muzzle loader is usually 1 turn in 48" which allows you to shoot both mini balls and round ball. Also know as a compromise twist. Slow twist would be in the range of 1 turn in 68" and is suitable only for roundball. The advantage of a slow twist is tht it is relatively insensitive to powder charge in terms of best accuracy.
