450 Bushmaster in a bolt gun

Does anyone use 450 bushmaster? I don't want the AR style of bushmaster... I'm interested in a bolt gun like a Ruger American Ranch

But... I've never fired a 450 bushmaster before. How flat does it shoot? Is it an acceptable 250-300 yard deer rifle?

I'm keen on the bushmaster 450 because it uses .452 bullets and I keep .452 bullets on hand for reloading by the thousands

Have the ranch in a MDT stock, taken a couple deer with it, also have it in a NR semi auto

I MADE IT TO THE RANGE!

first off, the 450 does not have a huge amount of recoil. Whether it is all the muzzle brake, or the added weight from the laminate stock, it was easy to handle and not noticeably different than my friends 308 savage axis that we had with us (also a laminate stock).
Did not have a lot of time, so just put one box through it to get it onto paper and dialed in to about 100 yards. groups easily within 2" even with my mediocre marksmanship. Now I just have to carry it around for a day to see how it handles for weight and packing; I expect it be fine for that as well

(this post copied into another 450 thread)

right now the only available that I know of is the Hornady 220gr, but really, you can use it for pretty much anything

there are some videos on line of people taking deer with it. and it is not like some 50B<G that cuts them in half. Just a big slow slug travelling down range. The guy with the great beard braids (forget his channel) was talking about reloading them during his review

I buy bulk CamPro jacketed bullets in 250 grain round nose flat point to reload 45 colt. The 450 BM is also a .452" projectile, just like 45 colt... and hence my interest in it. So, I emailed CamPro and they provided some load data to use with their bullets. You can get a 2000 fps 250 grain hand load whipped up for cheap cheap

I like Gun Blast but can only listen to him for so long before shutting it off.

I have tried seating out further can't with any bullets I've tried get an extra 1/4" of length = bullets hit the rifling of the barrel max I can get is appr 1/8" longer.

With that said that extra 1/8" works especially with my 240gr XTP-Mag loads.

The below loads were my first attempt at loading for my Ruger American in 450 Bushmaster.

450 Bushmaster
Camp Cook's Loads
Ruger American 16” barrel

225gr Hornady FTX with 41grs Lilgun
2453 2303 2160fps
2451 2301 2160fps
2441 2293 2151fps

I put together a reduced recoil load for my wife to shoot

225gr Hornady FTX with 34grs AA#9
2123 1984 1857fps
2029 1894 1770fps
2090 1955 1827fps

240gr XTP-Mag 40grs Lilgun
2396 2224 2064fps
2462 2283 2123fps
2373 2203 2051fps

300gr XTP-Mag 41grs AA1680 I really don’t know what to say about this load....
1670 1580 1504fps
1745 1649 1561fps
2295 2130 1995fps wow what happened?
1789 1689 1605fps

355gr WLNGC's 31grs Lilgun
1852 1738 1638fps
1844 1740 1648fps
1827 1723 1626fps

I'm thinking muzzle - 25 - 50 yards but to confirm I'll have to double check when I get home.

I was using my LabRadar unit doppler radar unit.

Muzzle - 25 - 50 yards my target was only at 60 yards if it was at 100 yards I would have also had 75 & 100 yard velocities as well.
