.455 fiocchi in mk2 webley

Is yours nitro proofed it may loosen up over time I prefer to load mine down a bit but plenty of people shoot the stuff.

The Fiocchi fodder is pretty 'hot' to be used on a regular basis in these old girls...
Better to load your own...or have someone with experience do it for you....

Usually people shoot the ammo and then reload the brass. I don't feel it's necessarily too hot but as others said, it's always better to reload the old girls.

Fiocchi isn't loaded any hotter than the CIP or SAAMI spec for the cartrdifge, which is right around 12,000 psi IIRC. It does feel a little "snappy" compared to what most of us load but it is not dangerous. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a box or two but i wouldn't shoot hundreds of them.

Understated, .455 Fiochi is hot.
I will shoot it my 1917 smith but not in a webley.
My webleys eat light loads of unique. Just enough powder to get the bullet to the target.

too hot to put a box or two of shells through in your opinion? Where would I get dies/etc for a set up for reloading/ pulling the bullets from my .455 fiochi and reloading them with a lighter powder load?

Bullet pullers (hammer type ) run about $20.
45 colt or 45 acp dies will work to resize and seat bullets
You may need a shell holder for .455 webley
The 45 webley dies from lee are excellent value.
andrew at higginsons powder has (had) them or you can order from the factory direct discount house just down the road from lee. No restrictions on export and good prices.

And I would not shoot any fiochi 455 ammo in an antique.
That stuff rattles my 1917 S&W in 455.
I use the lighted load of Unique I have found with a 200 grain .457 bullet.

That's a big bullet in diameter. What Webley are you shooting? Did you measure the bore?

It was manufactured in the 1880s and it has a .456 bore.
The 1917 S&W has a .457 bore.
The modern .455 webley (ww1) has a .454 bore.
pure lead bullets can be up to 0.002 over the bore diameter.
I would not try that with very hard cast.
I slugged each chamber mouth as well they were at .456 as well on the antique webley.

A number of sources caution against using heavy loads in any of the early break action webleys as well.
