So doing some loads for my 4570 Henry single, doing 300 jhp horandy, and well realized all my brass I got was the lovely 4570 Hornady short brass all measures 2.40 instead the 2.5 , have a rcbs seat die , not to worried about crimping as it’s a single. Anyone use these or any recommendations? Thinking on using loads for marlin levers from either Hornady or lee manual .

Your measurements are not quite right. .45-70 brass should measure 2.1" long not 2.5" long.

But, you will be able to use the shorter brass just fine in your single shot without a crimp. If you ever decide you want to crimp with that short brass you can order a Lee Factory Crimp die which will do the job.

I rarely crimp loads for my Ruger #1 in .45-70, just for the lever guns.

But you'll be fine with that you are doing. As far as strength of the rifle goes, I have no idea. But I guess they must be pretty strong as they are chambered in .308 too eh?

Chris.
