I came across some older boxes of bullets lying around.

Wondering if anyone with a strong action 45-70 or a 450 Marlin, loaded these fairly pointy rounds in thier own handloads?
Range results briefly, and terminal effects on big game maybe??

I have a 458 x 2 inch American in a Mauser. (this wildcat, is really similar to 450 Marlin)

I load them in my 450 marlin with 59 grains of Hodgens 322 and a cci 200 primer. I have only used them on smallish wild boars and the results were very similar to them being hit by lightning.

I bought mine in the summer of 2000. Are they still easy to find in Canada?

Can't think of much better ammo for the little 'razorbacks!' Good for you.....:)

I found the one box I had at a gun show and have never seen them again. I did look at the Barnse web site at one time and still seen them listed. My blr feeds much better with a pointy bullet so they are my go to round when hunting anything that may be nasty in close quarters and I have found those little buggers to get quite nasty when you wake them from their afternoon nap. We have also seen a few that look like 45 drums with legs but have yet to connect with one of the big ones.
