.458 Lott

Yes, well David Henry did... ;)

Also had barrel band installed, crossbolts in the stock and action glass-bedded.

I am going to take it out after black bear this spring!! :D

^ I continue to tell people that recoil is overstated. I have fired 15 rounds of .416RM off the bench and .458WM in a day, rather then any worry about the recoil, my shoulder tends to tell me when I am done, I pretty much shoot unless my shoulder gets sore.

Also I have a rifle cradle, a "BenchMaster" that I will use sometimes, when I intend to do a lot of chrono work with these heavy caliber rifles. The cradle takes a helluva pile of the recoil away.

Heavy .45-70 loads out of my Marlin 1895 is much harder on me then either my .416RM or .458WM. The .458 Lott isn't much different from the .458WM.

Gotta remember these rifles both have excellent balance; a ZKK-602 .416RM and a CZ-550 .458 Lott (was a .458WM). They have 24" barrels and weigh 9.3lbs. My .416RM has a scope as well, which adds another lb. Like I said, the short Marlin Guide Gun is much more severe.

Try a Ruger #3 in .45/70 sometime with heavy loads. 6lbs. and the buttplate of a Mini14. I've fired rifles that kicked with more energy, but nothing that hurt as much. Brought loads up once to see what they would do and 500 grainers passed 2000fps. in a first year long throated #3. 2038fps. is where I stopped but it wasn't because of pressure, those things are pain to shoot.
