Took my CZ-550 .458 Lott that David Henry built for me to the range today.
500gr Horn IB, Hornady brass, CCI-250 Mag Primers, H335
First string of 5 shots; 78grs H335
2324, 2306, 2348, 2307, 2324 fps MV
Second string 5 shots; 79grs H335
2339, 2336, 2326, 2317, 2320
Shooting with the iron sights off a BenchMaster rest I put 10 shots in about 5".
The Hornady manual has max load 79.3grs and estimates 2200 fps for this load. I loved the consistency of the velocity at the 79gr load. I'm thinking I will stay with this. It shot smooth and there was no issue that I could see as far as pressure signs.
So I'm ~100fps over the estimate; would this be a problem?
