Anyone here rocking a .458 Upper? If there is anyone, what do you do about magazines? I know the round takes a unmodified AR mag, so are you limited to the 2 or so that will fit in a 5 rnd. mag, or can you get 5 round socom mags (~15 round 5.56)?

To avoid trouble with the law you should modify 20rd 5.56 mags using a single shot follower. If you use a standard follower, then you will obviously be able to load in way more than 5 rds of 5.56. By coincidence if you leave the standard follower underneath the single shot follower the mag will only fit 5 458 Socom rounds in it. This way you don't have to mess around with pinning it or blocking it
If you try to put a 5.56 into the mag, it will not catch the feed lip
This way you will not be accused of having a prohibited mag
