45ACP Bullseye or W231

Finally started reloading for the 45 my two choice are Bullseye and Winchester 231 will be shooting 185gr JHP and 230gr FMJ any preferences pros and cons. Thanks much

I use W231, it works and i have no complaints. however, i think ill pick up a pound of acurat#7, as you can load to higher velosities with it. just for fun.

i have never used bullseye,but i have heard of people getting good results with it.

Hey Hippie if you want higher velocities go to Armco s site. He makes speacial brass for 45 ACP from 308 brass and its a lot hotter than normal.

I ran out of 452AA not too long ago and have not found a decent replacement yet. I have tons of Titegroup which I am hoping will make a decent .45acp load but if not I have used 231 and been happy with the results.

I found 231 and bullseye to be a little dirty
switched to WST for both my 40s&w and 45acp

452AA is very close to HS6.
Was using 452 in 9X21mm until it was dropped.
Same HS6 charge got me the same velocity.

For .45 ACP target load with a 200 SWC, I am using 4.5 grain of bullseye.
Same charge under a 230 gr. FMJ

so what do you think would burn cleaner 231 or bullseye its for high volume shooting

After experimenting with Bullseye and Winchester Action Pistol (WAP) I still prefer W231 for the 180-200 grain 45ACP loads.

mine are a little more healthier than that- 6.1 of 231 for a 200 grain swc- top end is 6.3 so i have a little leeway, but i'm also shooting a 20 lb spring in a seres 70 full size gov't

All I use in .45 is bullseye, no muzzle flash, reliable and economical. about 4.5 gn behind 230 gn plated and your good to go, you can go lighter....

yup running 231 just like shooting BP LOL just have to get the load down printing a bit wide.

Anybody using HP-38 for .45ACP....trying to stick to 1 powder for a few calibers.
