I had the same problem with reloads on my hornady LNL AP press. Using lEE dies I found it hard to do small adjustments on the bullet seating to get the right crimp (flare removal) because of that damn rubber washer. I finally ground off the factory crimp die so the press wire didnt hit it (much) and used that to remove the flare. I seat the bullets with the die set to not crimp at all. I took the barrel out of the gun to test the fit and all is well. (But I'm trying again without the factory crimp die because it still slightly deflects the wire on the shell plate, where the loaded round is knocked off the plate.) I regret buying lee dies just for the reason the rubber lock nut makes small adjustments so hard because of the static friction... I'm not a patient man...
