i recently acquired some 230gn JHP projectiles. i couldn't find the data from any of my manuals (Lymann 47th/Hornady 7th) the seating depth required for a JHP at 230gn.

i do know that a FMJ shouldn't exceed 1.275" OAL. one of the manuals suggest 1.243" OAL for a 225gn JHP. is it advisable to apply this data considering it is close to 230gn in weight?

i do not know if this matters, but my reloads are usually a ratio of 75:25 (closer to max) range of the minimum to maximum (ie min = 8.0, max = 8.7... i'll use 85.25gn).

thanks for your help.

yes it is.

the provided load will give you a load that works in most guns. However, depending on your intended use of 45acp (is there anything else than target shooting in this lovely country we can use pistols for?) you can downgrade the load to your own pistol.

I load all my pistols to minimum powder to cycle the gun or 160power factor, depending on use. Shortening OAL will result in higher pressure and you will probably need less powder to cycle your gun

If you are concerned about not using proper 230gr load, check data from hodgdon or alliant (or any other powder manufacturer's website)
