Every once in a while I get the idea in my head that it'd be fun to shoot pistols at the 300m gongs we have set up at the range (Biggest one I think is a 5MOA circle?). Never had much luck (Jerry Miculek I am not), but I picked up a scout scope at the Easter gun show on Friday to throw on my Smith 460 XVR revolver. Figured a 10.5" barrel and 2000ish FPS of bullet velocity should get it there, lol.
Ran out of elevation adjustment on the scope, and the gap blast ended up shredding my front bag, but I finally hit it after walking it in over 10 or 15 shots. Mounting solution isn't ideal, but it's what I had on hand at the time. The rail on the revolver is only over the barrel, so I needed to move the scope back to get the proper eye relief. I ordered a cantilever mount with more offset, so hopefully that'll work out a bit better.
The group of targets on the left are the ones at 300m (Middle are 400m, right are 500m. I wasn't that ambitious). Bag was filled with rice and flour, turns out. It was given to me by someone, not sure if it was a home made deal. But it's junk now. Not sad about it.
So uh, this I guess? Lol
