Does anyone have or know where I could find a single round of this obsolete ammunition? I'm working on an RCMP ammunition display, and this round is proving elusive.

Case length on the .476 was the same as the .455 COLT ammo which was loaded here until 1968.

Colt used the original black-powder casing, kept on when Cordite proved not to burn well in the long casing, which led to the development and adoption of the short-cased Mark II round.

Shouldn't be too hard to fake one up. JETHUNTER has the correct slugs for this number.

Let me clarify, I'm working on a personal display of ammunition types used through history by the rcmp, I'm not making a display for the rcmp. I collect ammo...but I'd love to get one of those old NWMP Enfields someday as well!

Thanks for the tip smellie, I may go that way if I can't find an original

Don Klancher used to have some original Mounted Police rounds and/or boxes for sale, I believe. Not cheap, if I recall correctly, nor can I say whether he still has any. I will PM his e-mail address ....

This is what it looks like if that helps with anybody finding one for the OP -
