I am sure that a lot of SKS owners don't realize that there were 3 different styles of latch pins for the 49/50 receiver covers. There was a discussion on SKS-Files about it. When the SKS after 50, it standardized its latch pin. The earliest lasted from 49 to the early 50, they then tried a stamped eyelet that proved too weak and then went to a solid extended tab. Now the stamped eyelet with a rivet are scarce due to their breakage and the Russians saw their flaw and replaced. if you have a eyelet latch pin that is riveted, please post it and with S/Ns. On another forum they are trying to find out more information about this rarity.
My findings from my collection
