Just wondering if any of you have bought from this seller? I have contacted them and they say that only military optics are ITAR and that hunting/target optics are ok to ship to Canada.
The cost is about $200 less than Canadian prices.
If anyone has ordered through them, could you please message me about your transaction.
Thanks!

I really like the Zeiss Conquest scopes, specifically the 3-9x40 model.

Cheers
Jay

Done threee deals with them.
Paid HST on the last one.
No problems.
I would call and ask, rather than pharting around ordering
on their site.
They also have a pretty decent deal on rings and mounts if you
purchase optics.
Some sniper type scopes they can't ship up due to regulations,
hence the call them first thing.

Did they just totally change their website? Or am I just mistaken. I thought their website was unique with their own rating system and a panel on the left with alternatives suggested. They also had their own custom spec sheet with the internal adjustments in MOA. Often it would say "inadequate for most rifles" or rarely "above average". They had a great break down on which brands they recommended and why. But now it just looks like every other retail website and I'm tripping out, am I looking at the wrong site?

Too bad, I liked the old site with its pull no punches approach. They must've got some flack for their opinion of leupold "overpriced" basically, cause now they've got leupold right up front with their other favorites. I'll definitely check there first when I'm ready to upgrade.

There are two classes of scopes as far as export from the US is concerned.
Military scopes are controlled for export by the US Department of State. Sporting scopes by the US Department of Commerce.
There are US businesses which have received punitive fines for exporting scopes without following proper procedures. These include Midway and Zeiss USA.
There are different rules for export from the US to various countries. Canada is not exempted from US export controls.
little_airwolf - if the US DOC has waived the requirement for a permit for the export of sporting telescopic rifle sights to Canada please provide evidence of this exemption.

Here is the evidence that you need an export permit. If this company has not applied for an export permit, they are not doing it legally.

Please note that discussion of illegal activities is not allowed by the forum rules.

Sporting Rifle optics are listed in the Commerce Control List (ECCN 0A987)

Control(s) Country chart
FC applies to optical sights for firearms, including shotguns described in ECCN 0A984, and related parts FC Column

Items:

a. Telescopic sights.

b. Holographic sights.

c. Reflex or “red dot” sights.

d. Reticle sights.

e. Other sighting devices that contain optical elements.

f. Laser pointing devices designed for use on firearms.

g. Lenses, other optical elements and adjustment mechanisms for articles in paragraphs a, b, c, d or e.

Then you go to the country chart, and you will find a "X" under FC for Canada. This means you will need an export permit to export to Canada.
