I had my scope overhauled a couple of years ago and recently (and for the first time) went to install it on the rifle. Prior to the overhaul it would mount quickly and easily. This time, as soon as I started to thread the quick release screw I could feel that it starting to cross thread in the mount. Fortunately I stopped turning before it was buggered but I would like to chase both male and female threads before I try again. I suspect that the threads are a British pitch and diameter and I do not have British thread gauges. Can anyone advise?
