I have owned this revolver for sixty years. My first handgun, It came in a soft leather purse with a part box of pre W.War 2 . Remington 5.5 Velo Dog Ammunition- a 25 round box with 12 cartridges remaining. Remington did not continue the Velo Dog line Post War and those 12 rounds had to do for quite a while until Fiocchi ammunition became available. Belgian proofed but perhaps made in France, it is nicely finished and functions reliably. With serial mumber 34 (there must be 33 others out there somewhere) and marked only" D.D.- Bte" it would seem to date back to the early 1900 period. From a shooting standpoint the heavy bar trigger double action and small grip make for rather large groups. The 43 gr full metal jacket is rated at 820 FPS - barrel length not mentioned -somewhat less thsn one might anticipate given the dimensions of the cartridge. I understand that some rifles have been chambered for this round. Any other Velo Dog shooters around?
