I was wondering how economical it would be to reload the 5.56. I am not looking for FMJ, but rather just a good quality boat tail copper jacketed bullet. I am all wondering about good sources for the brass and other components.
You are better off using .223 brass to start with. 5.56 brass is usually heavier and has less powder capacity. By the looks of it you are thinking about match bullets, so the work involved to match prep 5.56 brass just isn't worth your time.
Reloading is not always about economics, but more about tailoring your ammo to your rifle. That being said, there is no way I would be able to afford shooting matches if I had to buy ammo instead of loading it.
