5.7 x 28 ammo prohib?

OK I have a question: I was seconds away from buying a PS 90 from questar a month or so back but before I did for whatever reason I called MD Charlton and deviating from the point of the call they essentially told me the ammunition for the ps 90 (the 5.7x 28) is now prohibited in Canada and you can go to jail for poseesing/ shooting it. Apparently this happened through the privy council.... can anyone verify this? And If so when did this happen. I am so confused - no surprise, it seems to be verdict on just about every firearm law in canada.
 
It seems that armor piercing 5.7x28 rds are prohibited specifically because they can be used in the five seven handgun. I know that the original fn ammo was armor piercing. I think that jhp rounds should be fine. Don't know about fmj though.
 
Yea I am not sure how exactly all these laws work regarding high velocity (since obviously I am not shooting the stuff) but the impression I was put under was the cartridge itself was what was banned because of its properties. If I am recalling the conversation correctly (which it is quite possable I am not) what the guy at MD said was essentially that all of it is high velocity, which makes sense when you consider the application the PS90 and FiveseveN were developed for.

Really don't. They rarely sell to civis I called them and asked about
Buying a semi auto p90 they said they only ever had full autos
So they told me to call fn herstal, fn said they only delt thru md. And that md had
A large order of semi auto p90s sent to them. Then I was told by md that I could not buy one.

Interesting. I spoke with questar and things were so clear and seemed good then I spoke with MD and I got this feeling like the sky was falling. I guess when I am ready I wil call Scott and speak with him.

MD Charlton doesn't sell many guns to civillians. If you're looking for something related to the M&P talk to Blair, otherwise it's not worth it. Since Murray left, Blair's the only guy to talk to, and then only within the "less exotic" realm. The 5.7 isn't prohib as noted above, except for the stuff that isn't in the country.
 
The SS197 Sporting round is perfectly legal here and has a FRT#. I bought a 2000 round case from Questar a while back. I think there the only place in Canada that sells it. Even in the US its hard to find right now with the election coming up and what not.
