5.7x28mm Ammo

Great price for the ammo. It usually goes for about $40/ 50 cartridges, or $1600/ 2000 cartridges when available.

That said, if you do a little research, it is not too hard to reload for, and ammo can then be made for under 25 cents a shot.

I have a few thousand rounds hoarded already though...

We tried to keep it as low as we could... as volumes increase we hope to bring it down even more.

Also, we are offering it to dealers at a discount so that they can buy case lots and sell it "by the box" to their walk-in customers. The price per box may be a bit higher but you won't have to buy 40 boxes at a time :)

This whole process has been a long time coming... getting the SS197 added to the NRCAN list of "approved" commercial/retail ammunitions was something we started working on @ 2 years ago.

Not trying to harp on you since you are the only ones that seem to bringing it in and I hope you can get the prices lower so it can be a more popular round.

I am not one to complain about prices but I will this time just cause I can't wrap my head around it. I know suppliers in Canada have additional fees etc. but a 2,000 round case priced @ $1,349.99 seems high , Cabelas US sells them in 1000 round lots for $399, that is $550 difference per 2k of ammunition and we are talking reatail prices here, I can't think of another round where there is that big of a price discrepancy between US and Can. Or are you being ripped off by your supplier?

No offence, but if you can do it cheaper then please do so.

Between the cost for export permits, import permits, the hundreds of hours spent getting things setup on both sides of the border and then the costs of actually transporting the ammunition, etc... well it is what it is.

As for comparison to other calibres... the volumes on the SS197 is so low that comparing it to other ammunition that is imported in the millions of rounds is simply unrealistic.

You are entitled to your opinion... like I said you're welcome to import and sell it if you think you can do it cheaper. Now that it's finally listed on the NRCAN approved list commercial importations are finally a reality.

Questar is NOT in the ammunition business... in fact we have NEVER sold retail ammunition prior to this and the only ammo we're selling (at this point anyway) is the 5.7x28mm and ONLY because no-one else was importing it commercially and making it available on a regular basis. We'd honestly prefer that some of the ammunition distributors would bring it in and sell it. If they can do it cheaper then that would be an added bonus.

There is hope that I will soon be able to get my ps90 and fn handgun thanks to Marks Herculean efforts. Ammunition was one of the huge barriers to entry into this game.

Anything???

Answered repeatedly in various other threads... we are waiting on Export Permit approval from US State Department. Until they approve an export permit we can't do anything. They have been reviewing that permit application for months... and so we continue to wait for their decision.

Geez

Sorry to put you you out there Mark . . . I'm just spoiled I guess, when I ask most retailers on a $3k+ item they would be willing to repeat it a hundred times

I think I know the answer to this, but I will ask just incase I am wrong - is this item only sold by the case?

Thanks
Chad

Just do a little looking. He has answered your question. Now place your order with him and wait like the rest of us slobs.

He HAS answered this for you. Only sold by the case by him. Dealers may have some and sell by the box.
