5 mm

If it was a 5mm Rem. Magnum, you'll haver trouble finding ammo for it. It was a bottleneck rimfire that was available in the 70s and early 80s. An old Shooter's Bible that I have says that it shot a 38 gr. bullet @ 2105 fps. I don't think ammo has been available for years though.
 
Ammo is a collector item - expensive. Makes the gun a wall hanger.
Made on the same action as the Remington 580,581, and 582. I think it was a model 591.
There is a guy in the states converting them to 5mm centerfire.
 
Cartridge was a commercial failure. There was nothing really wrong with it, it just did not catch on. No other mfr. picked up on it. Ammunition will bring $40-$50 a box. Unike the .17HMR, the basic case was unique, which made it more complicated to adapt existing designs.
