50/50 solder

I'm going to do my first scrap melt this weekend and was thinking of adding some 50/50 solder.
But the only solder I can find is flux core, I assume this will be no problem.
Am I right in my assumption ?

Assuming your adding the solder for the tin, then I would and do use lead free solder, It's usually 95% tin.

Adding the Flux based solder will work, but I've been told it can crud up your pot. If you can get the solder cheaper then the lead free stuff I would go with it and Flux it a few times extra.

Try to find some SN100C bar solder used in lead free electronics wave soldering. It's over 98% tin.

the guys above are right 50/50 is a bit of a waste as it wont do to much for your melt hardness
