Would a 50 Alaskan be doable on a Marlin Guide Gun? Or is there another alternative in to 50 caliber lever gun market? I've got a 50 caliber barrel and am thinking about doing a big-bore lever but I don't want to have to pay the price of a new(-ish) '86 (USRAC vintage) or an '71. Would the rim diameter of the 50 Alaskan be too large for the Marlin (I'm afraid it might be)? How about a 50-100 or 50-110? Or am I completely sunk without a Winchester action?

I have made a couple of .450 Alaskan's on 95 marlins, and am currently having a factory 95, 45-70 barrel rebored to .50 cal to make a .50 Alaskan. The 50 Alaskan does not require ejector modification like the .450 does. The .50 is shorter.

The rim dia, is slightly bigger on the .50 Alaskan-.348 case than the 45-70, but it is not much different, the bolt faces and extractors on my rifles required no alteration.
