I've read a few posts where the .50 Beowulf is mentioned and someone said they had one. So far it seems to be elusive. I emailed the company, Alexander Arms in the US a couple of years ago and they said they were not dealing with any companies in Canada.

Are their any dealers interested in importing them? One Shot Tactical?

Is anyone else interested in buying them?

I think they'd be an awesome addition to the collection. :ar15:

IMO interest will be very limited. Virtually no availability of the rifles or ammo for them, and even if they were available, price would be high. If you want an AR in a less conventional caliber, why not go for a 300 blackout, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, etc?

I know what you mean about availability. My current collecting phase is one of heavy, slow moving bullets. In handguns I've been adding .45s. I'd like to get a carbine in a similar vein. :)

Talk to Armtac, last time someone brought the subject Beowolf, Armtac said if he can get ten people intersted in purchasing it, he will see about bring them in.

Do a search, the thread is not that old.

IMO there is really no point owning a AR15 50 Beowulf unless you can hunt with it, and you can't do that in Canada. Furthermore, it's expensive to shoot and will hammer the crap out of your lower.

Actually, you got me thinking after your post. What I'd really love to get is a 1960s era Gyrojet carbine. Rocket propelled projectiles. No recoil, high rpm and very few moving parts. Now that would be badass!

On the downside they weren't very accurate and the ammo cost a bundle. :(

i have put the wife on notice that i will be getting a 458 socom or .50beowulf if/when they come in.

she was not impressed.

oh well life goes on.

on a side note i seem to remember that 10 rounds of the stuff fits a 30 round mag. so does that mean if we get 5 shot .50 beowulf mags we can have "less" gimped ar mags?

If you haven't seen the other thread on 300 blackout that's going on right now, check it out. From an ammunition standpoint, you can make 300 blk brass from .223, so finding appropriate brass is relatively easy.

It would stick with your "slow, heavy bullet" theme, but would be much easier to source (both the barrel and parts for repair).

It's easy enough to order a reamer and build one of these if you really want one. The real issue is going to be getting the brass.

Personally, I would go with something that had brass that was readily available or could be made from something readily available. I would probably also go with a .458 and shoot those 500 gr. Hornady bullets. There are tons of options out there for heavy .458 cal bullets.

Why would it be so hard to get brass? Alexander Arms can supply it no? If they wont ship it to Canada get Questar or someone to import it or go pick it up at the border. Make sure to get a hunting licence in one of the states in case of check stop before border. Just buy 500 or 1000 at once and you will have a lifetime supply. Its not like you will be rapid firing cases at the range with a beowolf. I kinda want one too but, its down on the list.
