I was wondering if any stores in canada carry .50 BMGs for around or under $3000.00? I know that the armalite AR50 was around there, but since the .50 export ban in the states I guess they will no longer available....:( So anyways, do you guys know of any stores that carry any .50's around that price range? The only .50 that I know of still being brought in is the steyr HS50 and the accuracy international, but they are way out of the price range........... Thanks for any help.....

Yes that too has also been discussed in another thread here. The fact that it's .416 is not going to make it any cheaper.

The 416 Barrett will not be exported to Canada, I looked into this , and the ruling we got from the State Dept was that the basic rifle could easily be converted to 50 cal, hence they would not approve export.
SO I will be making 416s along with the 50s I currently produce.
Yes they will be just as pricey as 50s, possibly more due to brass, dies and bullets costing more than the 50s do.
Last AR50s were going for just under $5000.00.
There really is no such thing as a cheap 50, if you can't take the $6000.00 or so for a rifle I imagine that $10.00 per shot won't thrill you either

I do think a sticky is in order

I was just about to ask the same question again...I'll third that sticky request, at least until the search funtion on the site improves.

I don't get any results at all for a search on AR50

Armtech and PGW are options. Price will of course will be a problem @ $3k.

$3000 ? More Like $6000 To Start!

Your right it won't be cheap, but I think in the original post they were trying to find something in the $3k range.....

For a good one you have to think in terms of about 10-12000. A crappy, inaccurate one gets boring pretty quick.

My friend paid about 6K for the rifle (PGW), 2k for the scope (Leopold mk IV, with Premier reticle 24X fixed, with 1/8MOA mildots), and another 2-3k for a custom carrying case, reloading equipment, cleaning equipment, and a few years worth of reloading components (A-Maxs, boreriders, primers, 50lb powder etc, remember you only get 28-30 shots per pound).

If the cost of the rifle is a factor the other thing to consider is the outrageous ammunition and reloading component costs in Canada. I guess that this is mainly due to the USA's ban on exporting 50 BMG ammo and components but you will pay many, many times more than a person in the USA will for the same items. A quick search on the internet and I found 150 rounds of remanufactured 50 BMG ammo for US$169.00, in Canada you will be lucky to find them cheaper than $8.00 per round for similar surplus grade ammo which equals $1200.00 for the equivalent amount of ammo. And this is not match grade ammo it is just machine gun ammo and the cheapest you will find, not what you would want to shoot for accuracy at long ranges.

I think that your quarter full (if that) case of powder in a 50 bmg might be a problem for ignition when you are trying to keep the velocity of your cast bullet down low enough to use.

As a matter of fact you can have a Barnard action in 338LM for 1186 CDN (including trigger) and one in 50BMG for not much more (all single shot, are you going to a war?) and I will add, I deify anyone to find a better more accurately made action any where in the world! Do some searching about Barnard and see what you find. Rob MacLennan in ON makes barrels up to 50 and I think I know someone here who will make the best stock there is for anything. So where are we? Real close to the number for a rifle that is absolute top shelf. Plus sights of course.

Richard338, maybe we should talk!
