In 45-70's with plain base bullets and water dropped pure WW I don't get leading until 1700-1800fps. Makes sense that you wouldn't get any at 1600fps since you also have a gas check and the diameter is somewhat close (closer than a .30 cal anyway).
I've seen video of people shooting cast bullets subsonic in a 50BMG (~1000fps) with suppressors. Quiet and still around 1900 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle.
Must go through lead quick at 850gr. Heaviest I cast currently is 500gr .460" but in the past I have cast 900gr .730" full-bore 12 gauge slugs. Things just eat up the lead.
Does anyone here reload cast 50-BMG bullets.
Myself, yes, for the Dominion Arms DA-50
I have been researching and corresponding with the Boyz down in the U.S. (load data, molds and tips)
I have even come away with some solid data for a 1600 fps +/- using Trail Boss, yes Sir, good ole Trail Boss.
The way I look at it, a dam cheap way to plink.
So far I have acquired a NOE mold; 513 850Gr. FN 4 cavity GC
Acquired data of 0.918. Ballistic coefficient

Gas checks on the way and a Pat Marlins Checkmaker in .512 (I like to make sure that I'm not dependant on supplies)
In case anyone wonders, I have been seriously reloading and casting for over 40 years.
I don't have any experience reloading so take this for what it's worth .... But I was wondering if you take your cast lead bullets to a copper plating (chrome shop ) and have it " copper washed " or plated would there be any advantages ? Or would it just be a waste of money and time , I'm thinking it might not do anything , but I'm curious .
