50 gr 223 w/CFE223

Hi folks.

I'm out of H335 at the moment but I've got some CFE223. I want to work up a new load using Sierra 50 gr bullets for a 700 SPS Varmint. The only data for this powder I can find is Hodgdon's. I plan on working up from book starting load.

Has anyone tried this combo? What worked or didn't? Also, any luck with this powder/bullet combo in 22/250?

I use it and for my rifle, a stiff load of 28 gr with a 50g Hornady spx or sp shoots well with good velocity. There is little copper fouling but it seems to leave a deal of carbon fouling in the barrel which doesn't seem to affect accuracy in my rifle ( a Rem 700 sps sporter weight).

I've used 26gr of cfe 223 with 50gr z max in my ar15 with pretty good accuracy.

I've used CFE223 with a 55 gr bullet in some 223 Rem loads. Works okay, but I haven't done any serious accuracy tests.

Shoots great with 55gr BT in my Vanguard.
