Nevermind the fact that they're 2000 bucks. Nice gun, but not that nice.

I've been thinking about one of those handi-rifles, though.

I think that Thompson Center had an Encore in the .500 S&W called the Katahdin or something like that.

The Handi in .500 sounds like a cool toy. Has anyone read or heard anything about H&R's in that chambering having a tendency to pop open on firing? This was mentioned a couple of times on the Graybeard website. It apparently sounds much worse than it actually is, but I think that it would freak me out just a bit.

I've read the same thing. It doesn't seem to be an automatic sort of thing. Instead it's limited to some and doesn't happen to others. Which sort of implies that it can be "fixed" in some way.

Every so often if you're watching you will find a TC Encore with a rifle shoulder stock and a short "handgun" barrel chambered in 500S&W. Frontier brought a few in a couple of years back. And I'm sure that some other outfits that sell TC have had them as well. However mine isn't going anywhere for the time being. It's too much fun....
