I'm looking to buy a couple of new mags for my .50AE Desert Eagle. Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket mags for this pistol (or aftermarket in general)? Both my existing mags are Magnum Research. They were both used mags, and one just experienced structural failure at the range this morning - the bottom plate is quite worn, so it keeps slipping off during the shock of firing, lol.

Having the bottom plate of your mag come off appears to be synonymous with having your pants fall down while walking.

That being said, I was going to order a couple of new ones - anyone have any aftermarket options/opinions?

Thanks in advance.

I'd be somewhat surprised if you could find .50 AE Desert Eagle mags here. Not a lot of demand.
Sold out at Gun Parts. $63.95US per for original mags. $4 cheaper than .44 mags.
"...bottom plate is..." No wee tab you can adjust?

I've seen them advertised @ Freedom Ventures. I was going to try and track down something aftermarket if anyone has had experience. I can fiddle with the mag I'm sure and see what I can bend. I'd actually prefer a new one or two if the option was there for me.

I got a pro mag for my.44 and it was to fat and wouldn't fit in the gun. the good news is the spring was better then the spring in my stock magazine so I swapped them and it solved any jamming or problems after that.

Interesting, and thank-you for the feedback thus far. I've done some looking on the net, and that seems to be the general opinion - the pro-mag springs are good for this pistol, and that's about it.

You're missing something if the bottom plate is falling off.
Lots of dealers carry 50 mags for the DE. I've bought all mine locally. There are a surprising number of them in the country.

The bottom plate wasn't falling off, per se. It was sliding forward under recoil - that would perhaps be a more accurate description. I think the tab is worn that holds it on.

Freedom Ventures has some in stock (thank-you, Devon). But I think my paltry magazine purchase is going to be verrrrrrrrrrry expensive in the long run....that website is very dangerous when I have my credit card in hand....

very strange dude, my gun has seen over 10,000 rounds, I started with one mag, it still works great. new follower and spring a couple years back, and then I bought some more mags last year.

Indeed. The other mag works fine. Now that I've ordered a couple of new ones, I'm going to tinker with the defective one and see what gives. Maybe something broke off, I dunno. I never Hollywood slap-load the thing or drop-eject the mags, and I've never bashed a zombie or terminator unit in the forehead with it, so there's no abuse.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've found him: the richest pistol owner in Canada!

Kidding around; I'm sure you re-load. At factory ammo prices that's $20-25k in lead you've shot. What's home brew do, cut it in half?

Yeah I was going to say that. Holy crap. Even the Hornady 300gr are $30 a box for 20.

I've been shooting my .50 since I got it new in 1993 (I think, or maybe early 94?). Most of the ammo through is paid for by people shooting it, so it sort of works out and pays for my shooting of it. I buy new brass every few years and load the #### out of it. I've got about 2400 rounds I need to anneal as they won't crimp properly anymore. I usually buy enough components to load 1000 at a time.

Rob. When I had mine, I was lucky to get about 5 reloads out of the brass (50 AE). Such a violent extracting f-ed the brass pretty good. Also had a 10" 440 corbon barrel. Brass lasted 3 reloads. In hind sight I should of kept it. BTW I shot lead gas checked bullets out of it. No problem and no real drama, however the fireball wasn't pronounced when shooting lead as opposed to the 300 Speer bullets.
