It has been a couple of years since we had a 50 cal shoot, so it is time to do it again.:D
We have booked the Gennessee range west of Leduc Ab. for Saturday Sept 11 2010
This shoot will be limited to calibers of 408 and bigger only. Shortest distance to be shot at is 300 mtrs, longest 800 mtrs.
The number of competitors may be limited so as to make it possible to get all the stages done in 1 day. This will also allow members of the public an opportunity to shoot a 50 BMG.

The last shoots were a total blast and many folks who knew nothing of the 50s came away with some valuable info, experience and fun was had by all.
Stay tuned for more info as things progress.

Great idea Rick, would be good to see some of the guys again...

Except....SH!T.......cannon shoot is that weekend, gotta go shoot big bores...

Non competitor attendance fee is $20.00 which includes insurance and an opportunity to shoot a 50 cal rifle. Ammo will be provided at additional cost.

Any monies left over after expenses are paid will be donated to The Military Families Fund.

The Military Families Fund was created in April 2007 by General Rick Hillier, the former Chief of Defence Staff to assist military families faced with unforeseen and often immediate needs that have resulted due to conditions of service. The fund continues to grow through the generous contributions of Canadians, corporations and other organizations, adding a new vehicle to support Canadian Forces members and their families.

We will have entry forms available to download shortly

Head west on either 16 or 16A.. Turn South at highway 770 just past highway 43.

Cross the river and head up the other side.. Just before the top you will hang a right and an immediate left.. Follow the signs from there..

Being a tad computer illiterate am having issues with a download entry form, so please email me and I will email a printable entry form to you.
We need to get the entry forms in fairly soon so we can arrange with NFA for insurance and to ensure we have enough targets made up for everyone who wants to shoot.

Time is running out to register for this shoot.
Those who send in entry forms post marked BEFORE Sept 2 get to shoot for sure.
Those who are late may not get the chance as we may not have enough targets on hand.

How about a 338 lapua being its parent case is a 416 rigby?

We chose to draw the line at 375 for being the lowest limit of big bore.
There are several shoots that are intended for the smaller calibers but very few aimed at big bore. We may opt to host a long range shoot at some point where the 338s would be welcome, but are trying to keep THIS shoot for the big bores, hence the "50 cal Fun Shoot"
Many ranges do not allow for the 408s and anything based on that casing even fewer are 50 friendly, so the intent was for 408s and bigger. The 375x408 is as small as we would like to go at this shoot.
