Hey! I'm going to be building a 510 whisper rifle and I was wondering if anyone can share their method as to how they made their brass from 338 lapua brass cut off. I know the traditional way is to have the shoulder cut on a lathe but I wanted to see if anyone did it with a neck Turner or another method. I don't have a lathe.

Any help is appreciated!

if you have the right pilot for a trimmer you can set it up to cut to the specific measurement, then form the brass in the full length sizing die, option number 2 is to form the brass and then neck turn, the only issue with this way is that down the road you may get a donut in the neck, but that is easy to neck turn once it is pushed back to the outside once sized

I never thought about sizing first before neck turning, that could be an option. It will be trial and error mostly.

The whole project isn't something anyone that's financially challenged wants to attempt. Bullets alone start at $60 per 20 rounds or $300 per hundred.

if you use exclusively a max bullets it is very expensive but cast bullets are popular in this caliber and bring bullet cost to almost nothing. Good for plinking and use the Amax for more precise stuff
