I have a Winchester 52D circa 1964 that has been sitting in my safe for a while, and it has only the bases mounted on the barrel with the screws in place for the front and rear target sights. Which rings fit and who currently makes a scope to mount on this rifle?

To my recollection there are no current makers of barrel mounted scopes. There have been a few that may be still available. These typically have external adjustments for W & E within the mounts themselves. Some are Lyman(Targetspot & Supertargetspot), Redfield (3200) and Unertl. IIRC there was a Lietschert(sp) on the EE a while back. They periodically show up on the used market.
A modern scope would require a receiver mount. It would be a shame to D&T your receiver for scope mounting and it would detract from the collectibility of your rifle.

That is not going to happen. Thanks for the info, I have sent an e-mail to Leupold asking if the custom shop can make an FX-3 with an extended eye relief/scout scope. I report back what they say.

i have a redfield 3200 20x with a diamond reticle for 50yd benchrest, with rings that fit on your blocks, it was on a bsa mk 3. i would like $400.00 for it

I asked: "Is it possible to have an FX-3 made through the custom shop with an extended eye relief (scout scope)?"

Their reply was: "the two scopes we carry in a scout scope are the 2.5x28mm and the 1.5-4x28mm. No 3 power."

I don't think they quite understood, but I'll leave it at that.

BRNO375; There is a fellow stateside that makes a no drill/tap mount for those Winchesters.
His Name is Ken Viani. [He will ship]
It utilizes the front scope block screw holes and the receiver sight holes on the side of the receiver.
It is a neat setup, and will let you mount any modern High powered scope on your 52D.
