55gr vmax in 22-250. Check these pics out!

Went out yesterday for fun shooting. I found this old steel plate from one of those old wood cookstoves. Set-up 100yards away. With my Savage Axis 22-250, reloads of: IMR 4895 (34.5gr), CCI primers, Hornady V-Max 55gr bullets.
I was as surprised as heck that they passed right through! I set up some old china plates and at 100yards, some of my shots made a clean hole through the plate.

Put another plate behind the first one, about 2 inches away and you will see what you expect. Once they hit something they break up pretty good.

I shoot 36 gr barnes varmit grenade (out of 22-250) off the back porch and did some playing. I bought a resetting plinking thingy/toy (designed for 22 cal) and the paddles were about a 1/4 think. The barnes go clean trough the plate, and when you make a hit most of time the paddle doesnt evenmove. Also did a post on frangible vs no frangible. I used some small very light guage steel/aluminum canisters and poked some holes with the 36 barnes and some heavier grain A-max (52 if i am correct) and the frangible blow the backsides out while the A-Max made a clean hole through both.

They need something to break them up but one they have they the bullet turns into nothing!!

Speed is what penetrates hard objects like steel or glass, as you've witnessed.

Cast iron is very brittle and not hard to shoot through, but your 22-250 will pass through mild steel quite easily as well due to it's speed.
