590 A1, 2 shot mag ext problem

So i installed the mossberg 2 shot mag extension and today was my first time trying it out and it had a few hick-ups. The aftermarket spring that came with it was staying coiled up at the end with the mag follower and not decompressing a few times. And a couple times the ammo was not chambering from the mag tube to the action and not ejecting from the action either. this has never happened before. the ammo i was using was S&B 2 5/8 slugs. Did i do something wrong or has this happened to other people??

Use good spec ammo. And or try it with the factory follower.
some times the s&b shells are too long and after 5 or 6 the spring gets cramed and compresed.

I was looking into getting a 2 shot mag extension a while back and still haven't decided. I believe I read about guys stretching the original spring out a bit so it would accommodate the additional shells or else cutting down the spring that came with the after market extention.

I am not recommending anything having never tried it but a forum search might turn up some info. Hope it works out for you.
