590A1 14' mag capacity?

Hi Guy's,

Just trying to confirm the mag capacity for a Mossberg 590 A1 14 inch. I have seen both 5+1 and 6+1 mentioned on various sites..... never really spent much time thinking about it until recently. I took both my 590A1's down for a cleaning, at the same time..... then to the range for a quick function test. I noticed I'm able to get 5 2 3/4 rounds in my 14' and 6 2 3/4's in my 18.5. I tried swapping followers to see if there was any difference, but there was none. If anyone out there could provide any info it would be much appreciated..... I know the mag tubes are different sizes, but there seems to be a fair amount of room in the 14 and just barely enough room to put in the 6th round on the 18.....

I think 5 +1 sounds right. My 14" Fabarm was 5 +1 I'd imagine they'd be the same. Might be 6 +1 with short ammo like the mini shells.

Yeah, it also seems right to me (had a 14' Fabarm as well, nice gun). Just looking for some confirmation, I guess.

mine is 5+1 and 4 in speedfeed stock lol
4+1 if youre running 3 inch magnums
6+1 if you have a plus 1 mag extension

but a stock M590A1 14" bbl holds 5 in the mag of 2 3/4'' shells.

I got one i bought on impulse. It was advertised as a 590A1 but i cant find 590A1 written on it anywhere. It just says 590. It has the metal safety, trigger guard and heavy barrel. I got it second hand, its in great shape with bead site.

This model you have is model# P252916 and it was manufactured on July 08,1997 and its model#50686, M514 14B SP/FD STOCK PARKERIZED, It is a Class III model, which means is only permitted if you have this license. Mostly used for military, It is a 590 but named a 514 because of the barrel , It does not have the A1 stamped on it . But we know that is an A1 models because it has the heavy wall barrel, metal safety , and aluminum trigger assembly .

Oh and it is 5+1 i can carry 4 extra in the speed feed stock.
