this is how i install the M+LOK onto my 590A1's with the short barrels. there lots of ways to "skin the cat" but this one involves only the magpul part, so if you wreck it, go buy another.
slide the action bar/forend into the M-LOK forend. using the slot in the bottom of the handguard, run a pilot drill hole through the top at the end of the threads. this will give you a starting reference for how far you have to drill.
use a 1 3/8 hole saw. bore down past the hole you made about length of the forend nut.
use a dremel with a cut off wheel and trim the remaining plastic and check the depth. repeat the above step and this one till you have it like above. then install the black ring with the widest nub spacing that is supplied with the forend. dremel the nubs so they dont drag on the barrel.
