597 17hmr

Can anyone tell me anything , good or bad about a remington 597 chambered in 17HMR. i am considering buying the laminated bull barrel model

I have that one.I love it.It is very accurate and the stock is a thing of beauty.I haven't had any problems with it at all.Highly recommended.

great news. ive heard some bad things about the 597 in 22 lr but also heard the magnums were built a little better. thanks for the report i will be trying one for sure

me too, it's all good, and it doesn't FTE after 30 rounds like my 10/22 mag...

I dont know about the 17 but I hate my 597 22lr it was a waste of money a remington screw up like the 710 get a cz its worth the money

and i WILL NOT buy a CZ
I already have a bolt action 17 that i am very happy with but i also want a semi

I work with longshot and bought a 597 in .17hmr at the same time, I love that gun it's the most fun, inexpensive shooting I done in a long time.I fitted a bushnell 3200 10x mildot scope to it and you can shoot out to 200meters (sporting clays and empty 12g shells) all day long.I did find that my gun was a little picky on which ammo it shot most accuratly with(cci outstanding ,17gr hornady ok,20gr hornady good, but the best for my gun was federal 17gr, which is the cheapest from walmart or canadian tire).
