597 extractor??

SO I have 4 mags for my 597 VTR and i get a shot or two at most before I have an extraction problem. Is there something other than the extractor I should be looking at on this gun?? Also guys where si the best place to buy one from?? A third question is are there really any other upgrades needed for this gun other than the extractor?? Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!


P.S. If there was a 597 VTR sticky I would have read it first. I am also going to try the search function to find some answers.

Well I will get that ordered up then. What sucks is I had no idea that cheaper than dirt was in Dallas Texas and I was down there for 5 days, I could have gotten it and a few other things. Oh well!!!!!!

In addition to the extractor get the target hammer too as it will make your trigger about half as heavy and twice as smooth. It's a must have for 597 and 10/22 rifles.

What is different about the mags?? I want to know so I can try to identify what i have then. Are they actually better or just tougher or....??

3rd gen mags have metal mag body, stronger spring. They feed much better than the earlier gen mags. IIRC, they are cheap on Rimfiresports.com. $15 maybe...?

I had issues with my 597 and making sure I use a good quality high velocity ammo mare quite a difference. It really wants a good high velocity round, otherwise it jams a ton.
