I just bought a 597 high cap mag yesterday. I'm stuck 100 miles away from my 22 at the moment, so i decided to load the mag up to break in the spring a bit. The first time I couldn't load more than 27 rounds in it, but i figured that was normal, since the same thing happened with previous mags. I try to load up all 32 rounds the next time, and I still couldn't get past 27 rounds. I take a look at the bottom of the mag (clear body) and to my surprise there's a second follower in there. A little bit odd. I don't know how that made it past QC, but I'm not complaining. Now I've got a spare follower.

In summary, somebody was sleeping on the job and now I've got spare parts.

I could only squeeze 27 into my Eagle 30-rounder. I might've gotten 28 or 29 in, if I put my back into it, but I didn't want a repeat of what happened when I tried to jam a 9th round into the 10-round mag: I put a dent in the case of the top round. Then again I haven't disassembled any of my mags yet. A bit of cleaning and possibly some filing may be the persuasion they need the hold a couple more rounds.

I might have to try out the Remington 30-round mag.

I have found aftermarket magazines are like many other things.. about 80% of what you expected. I was excited to find a 15 shot magazine for my marlin 880 .22 and it works flawlessly at 12. That's cool, it was 18 bucks and the gun came with a 7. Grouse look out, now I have 19...
