597 vs 10-22

Seems like there are MAYBE a handful of people on the planet who dont or havent owned a 10/22 and nearly every one of them liked it. Kindof a great sales pitch. Mine is in a Nomad stock with NO other upgrades and just finished off its 2000th round this summer with NO issues... other than some ammo it didnt like this past weekend (federal). Ive only cleaned it once. Im not complaining and dont regret that buy for a second.

I have a Glenfield mod 70 and I put thousands of rounds threw it and don't have any issues with it what so ever. I love the little gun and would never get rid of it. But I do want to do a 10-22 build in the very near future.

I own both. Both work well.

That being said other than all the aftermarket stuff, the main strength of the 10/22 is the mag design. Those 10 round rotary mags are fantastic. Unlike the Remington mags, the Ruger ones seem to never fail. I consider this mag system one of the biggest strengths of the Ruger 10/22.

The Browning rifle has a helix mag which is good too. Too bad Remington didn't use that design for the 597.
