well I was at a gun auction Saturday and I'm still kicking myself for not buidding higher on a Ljungmann, but I didn't have a good look at it beofe the auction and I had already picked up another enfield so I thought it would be easier on me just bringing home one rifle
So what I did buy
early production, 5C###x 1942 Savage No4 MkI
not a MkI*
now I have to dig into my book to find how close this rifle was in the production line to the change over from MkI to MkI*
also in 1952 it was rebuilt to MkI/2 standard so I hope it will be a good shooter. It is sporterized but still has the full barrel, and frontsight protector. Good candidate for a restoration project, as any parts would be proper considering the 52 rebuild.
all I need to bring her back to full military configuration is the rear, mid, and front barrel bands (which I have) top wood front and rear, and a new forestock. I will have to check my stash to see if I have any beach forestocks for this project.
and yes I have to take photos.
