I've watched a couple videos online that confirm that a Nordic +1 extension on a standard 870 tube can fit 6 2 3/4" shells. I asked Casey at Tacord about this and he wasn't able to recreate ot even with a shorter spring. Is this shell dependent?

This video demonstrates it at 1:20

Any of you guys have luck?

It's shell dependent. I checked the comments on his other videos a while back and some people listed a few shorter brands that let them jam 6 in. He's using the stock mag spring for the 4 round tube, and I'm assuming a stock follower. Not sure how well it would feed with the short spring with a longer tube when shooting fast, but you won't be shooting a pistol gripped shotgun as fast as a stocked gun anyways.

I built myself a Tac 14 and I actually have a +1 Nordic extension coming in the mail some time soon. I don't have a ton of different brands on hand, but I can report back on ones that I can fit an extra with.

Well I noticed my Winchester 00 buck and Federal slugs are shorter than my Federal 00 buck and Winchester slugs. Strange... Not sure if they're short enough to fit 6 in a tube though and don't have any S&B to compare to.

Shell dependant, at that point, might as well try the Aguila mini shells and for sure get six in there. You can always modify the follower depending on what you're doing. The other thought is, did he remove the retention tabs in the magazine tube? It's a pretty permanent modification to try something for a customer, just a thought. I've done that before putting an extension on a 870, didn't make enough clearance in the tube. I will get around to making a proper tool hopefully this year.

So I received my Nordic +1 this week and have it installed on my 870. I kept the factory spring for the 4 round tube, and also swapped the follower for a shorter one from S&J.

Using some snapcaps which are 57mm long, the same length as the 7.5 shot 2.75" handicap loads I got in bulk at CT, I can fit the 6th shell around 75% of the way in. So that's a no go on 6 shells for most over the counter stuff that I have available to me.
