6.5-284 Reamer Rental?

Hello, CGN Handloaders... I am in the process of a 6.5-284 build... before I buy yet another PTG reamer, I thought I would see if anyone here might gave one that they would consider renting to cut one chamber? If so, send me a PM. Thanks.

I have a 6.5 Rem Mag reamer I could lend you if you want a performance upgrade. - dan

You need to spec a proper 298 neck reamer, no-turn for Lapua brass. The older 6.5/284 reamers were likely smaller necks which would require neck turning.

Are you building on a short action or long?

If you are planning on using the 140 gr bullets, you will want a fairly long leade or throat. A standard chamber reamer is too short for my match ammo.

I will be sure to use the Lapua neck reamer, it is being built on a long action Ruger Mark II, and will be using the 140 AB with it as I have 2K of them in my shop. Dan thanks for the offer of the 6.5 RM reamer, but I already have one and have built two rifles with it... my stainless M77 Mark II 6.5 RM has taken bears, goats, moose, deer, wolves and coyotes already... love the rifle.

I went ahead and bought the PTG 6.5-284 SAAMI reamer, which they say functions perfectly with Lapua brass. Also bought some Lapua brass and Redding dies. All set for this project.

Rent it to me when you are done with it. Ive been wanting a 6.5x284 sinse i had to buy 6.5x284 lapua brass to neck up for my 284.

Had one of those I should have kept. Still have the dies, and a fast twist 6.5 sportier barrel that's been hanging around for a while. Going to build at least one more. - dan

Actually debated on doing an Improved version of that, but really wanted to do another 6.5 RM, but the platform did not suit a .532 base.

This is what I bought; 6.5/284 Norma, Lapua Match with a .298 neck and a .188 FB 1 degree -30 angle
