6.5-300 Weatherby is born

Well, didn't buy the rifle, but got the t-shirt (ok jersey) :)

Factory ammo for this stuff will hit the shelves for about 125 bucks/box (Weatherby branded with a 127 gr Barnes LRX) or the same price with a 140 gr Swift A-Frame - the only two options currently listed for 2016.

In the 2016 buyers catalog this is only offered in a couple of the Mk5 platforms - should list about $2500 (Accumark) to $3400 (Terramark RC)

And if this doesn't satisfy your need for speed, Nosler is introducing the 30 Nolser this year. The rep said it will "blow away" the 300 Wby. (can't find any data on cost of loaded ammo or even brass for the 30 Nosler).

Really the 26 Nosler was well past the point of limited returns, very few powders will get you to max speed, the rest leave you very close to 264mag territory. Just with shorter barrel life and a rifle that will be much harder to tune handloads for. Your odds of having a finicky to load for rifle go up quickly when you get to overbore chanberings like this.

That said, if you like dirty fast speed...
