I want to get a caracno to enhance my milsurp collection but would like to be able shoot it once in a while. I've seen boxes of commercial Norma ammo going for $40USD and am not prepared to buy mor than one box or so a year at that price.

I also read that these 6.5 cartridges were loaded with an older style, slow burning powder, and as a result will probably not be able to obtain any to laod with.

I'm wondering where you Canadian Carcano owners buy your commercial ammo, or the specs of your handloads and where you get the brass, and at which cost.

I'd like to ber able to handload lighter loads so as not to completely destroy an old gun I might pick up.

Norma is all you get round these parts. Giovani's gun shop is the cheapest i have found at $40 taxes in. If you don't want norma reloading is the way to go. Don't worry about stressing the action with hot loads, carcanos are plenty strong, just ask Andy.:D

Hornady manufactures Carcano ammo for Graf and Sons in the United States. There are a couple of canadian dealers that I know of, BC Redneck and Raynor Shine Gunworks in Saskatchewan. I think it goes for around $30 Canadian per box.

Thx a lot, I definartly am interested and will get back to you when my deal goes through.

My father has reloaded for years (.30-06, .7mm-remmag, .7mm-08, .220 swift etc.) But I've yet to get into it. With his help I'm hoping to be able to cook up some cheaper plinking loads... what powder did you guys use in your reloads and where did you buy bullets?

Naugler, you seem like a guy in the know. I'm wondering, since you had a Carcano collection, how overall did you like these rifles. I'm planning on Picking up a model 38 with an alright bore. I want to know hoe good of a shooter yours were on average... Also, do you have a left over sling that fits that you wouldn't mind parting with?

hah, thats half the reason I went with a Model 38 :)

I just need to consort with my dads copy of the warren commission report and set up some sort of rig where I can get a pumpkin moving along a clothesline at the same angle, see how quickly I can fire three hits from height :)

*not a psycho*
