6.5 Creed light weight low recoil

I’m hoping to get some low recoil rounds built up for a few young shooters to get into the sport.

Have any of you had any success with any combinations of components?

I'm loading H4895 with 100gr bullets in a .260 Rem for my daughters using the 60% rule. I think I'm loading 24gr behind Sierra 100gr varmint bullets for 2000fps. Very light recoil.
 
You could try TrailBoss powder.

That really cuts it down.

Guys in the states like it for sub sonic center fire loads.

Cowboy action guys use it too.
 
Used to be we'd start on .22LR and work our way up. Helps to have the fundamentals down before the first loudenboomer! But look into either the Trail Boss option or the "The Load" by Ed Harris (13 grains of Red Dot; should be able to search for the original article) as a starter on the bigger gun.
 
You could put a brake on it.
I have my 12 and 9 year old grandsons shooting a braked 6.5x47 with a brake. The stock is adjustable enough to fit them, and they have no issues with recoil. They prefer this rifle to shooting the 22 RF. It is however expensive to keep them entertained at the range, compared to a 22RF.
 
Thanks for the input. My boy has a small rascal 22. I want to start introducing him and his older cousin to something a bit larger and will be building this rifle as a lightweight kids gun. It did come with a factory break, but it’s not the absolute most effective one.
 
A lightweight gun with a decent cartridge is a recipe for recoil. If it's going to be a field gun (the only round fired today drops Bambi) then maybe a bruised shoulder was worth it, but I've seen a young lad at the range learn to shoot left-handed because shooting was so much fun but his right shoulder had taken all it could handle that day. If the rifle is going to be used for target shooting prone or on the bench, then a heavy rifle soaking up recoil might be a better choice.
 
My nephew shot H4895 reduced loads when he was starting out. Around 2400 fps with a 129gr ABLR, kills anything
 
A lighter bullet reduces recoil. Try 100 and 120, work up from the Start load check for accuracy.

My son was shooting a 308 at age 10. he shot 125 gr bullets with about 38 gr 4895. They were good to 600 yards.
