6.5 Creedmoor bullet comparison ??

I'm working on finding an OAL for my rifle. Using my Hornady gauge, I am very short with the 143 ELD-x raw bullets in my test, when compared to the box of the 143 ELD-x Precision Hunters. Are they not the same bullet??? Its about the difference of the length of the red Hornady tip. The rifle is a Savage Stealth, looks like everyone else shoots the factory stuff just fine. I wonder if I have a burr or something stopping the test bullet from fully getting into the lands. I sharpied the bullet, and it looks funny when compared to my other rifle tests. I have not tried to chamber a factory round yet as I'm in the house.
This is the same round, just different sides of the bullet.

Tough to see any land marks on the bullets in your pics from here.
Maybe try a bullet in the leade and cleaning rod in the muzzle technique to confirm what you are finding with you OAL gauge.
Something doesn't sound right if you are getting oals less than factory

I used the cleaning rod to get a feel/ make sure the bullet was coming to a stop, and it is. I wonder if the throat is too tight on it? Going to the gunsmith in the AM to see what he finds. I hope I don't need to send this thing back to where it came from.

Why would you need to send it back? If it is at the smith already have him ream the throat for the bullet you want to use.

I am trying to take it to Craig this AM. I will phone there first thing and see if he can have a quick look at it. Just bugs me that a new rifle may need work.

Good news, everything is good. I can load longer than factory 143 ELD-X. We could not get my Hornady OAL gauge to work, we used his Sinclair. . I will have to see what the issue is. No idea why my guagedoes not work right? Maybe bad run out.
