6.5 creedmoor rifle choices

The LRP is a hit and miss like the RPR. Both are mass produced factory rifles and you get what you pay for. There are guys that have good shooting rifles and others with lots of issues. There are several reports of LRP's in 6.5 CM with short throated chambers and others with burrs that would gouge brass when trying to chamber rounds. Do a search and to find out for yourself. I had a LRP in 6.5 CM that was one of the crappy ones. Accuracy was unacceptable with factory and handloads, were talking 2 inches plus at 100 m. On the rifle I had when chambering a round, there was resistance and had to be forced in. This resulted in the brass being gouged significantly and accuracy obviously suffered. I had the rifle borescoped and it was determined the chamber was not properly cut. Again, you get what you pay for. Good luck.

FRiend just bought a used Tikka 243 and had it rebarreled to 6.5 (Benchmark barrel). Just breaking in bbl but shot a 3 shot 5/8" at 100 yds yesterday

Go for a Tikka T3 Varmint in 260rem. It comes with a 1:8 twist, silky smooth action, excellent trigger, very good factory barrel and everyone I've shot has been a performer. It's not in the original chambering you were looking for but the 260 has the same performance and there is better brass widely available for it(Lapua).

we just built this - a true 1/4 MOA in 6.5 Creedmore - costs a bit more than your budget though

Check out the reviews by Frank Galli on Sniper's Hide on the Ruger Precision Rifle, you will be quite surprised at the performance of this factory entry level system. Later on when you want to do custom upgrades to the RPR Longrifles inc (LRI) builds a lot of really good custom upgrades for this system including barrels.
