I ended up with a spare 6.5mm 1-9 barrel from another project so I'm trying to decide what to do with it.

I already have a 15lb 6.5x47 lapua and a Ruger #1 in 260 Remington.

Ideally I'd like a 1-8 twist to work with but since I have a 1-9, I'll deal with it.

I was thinking of building a light'ish weight rifle for hunting. Neither of my other 6.5 rifles are really that light.

I had considered building a 260i but there are just too many issues to deal with (expensive dies, fireforming, internal mag feeding issues, etc).

With a 1-9 twist, do you think I'll have problems shooting the lighter (and shorter) 6.5 bullets (100gr, 107gr or 120gr.)?

1-9" twist will easily stabilize a 140gr spitzer bullet and will work well with most lighter bullets. Chamber in a 6.5X55 all around great cartridge for hunting most game.

My 9 twist 260Ti would group 130gr Sciroccos and 130gr Accubonds, as well as 140gr Interlocks as well as any bullet I fed it. 9 twist will work and the 125gr Nosler Partition or 129gr Hornady Interlock are two solid 9 twist hunting bullets
